A time to reflect.

Whew – what a year. It’s December already. Where did the time go? I was just thinking to myself about all that has transpired in 2015. Actually this time of year is always a favourite of mine in business. It’s because I really love reflecting and then setting goals for myself in the new year to come. With reflection, there are always many more nuggets of goodness that get uncovered – more than what I initially think there will be.

At first I pondered aloud ‘I didn’t really get much done in my biz’, but upon further inspection, I feel it was pretty darn okay under the circumstances. You see – this year I wanted to be there for my ailing father as much as possible (he died in June), so my business took a seat on the back burner. Of course, one can’t just bounce back after the death of a parent – especially after growing so close over these past few years (and especially if you’re the executrix — it’s a full time job). So I allowed myself to surrender to the idea that perhaps this wasn’t the time to have my business grow like I’d dreamed it would. In October, I released all pressure and high expectations I’d put on myself for the business, and recognized that there was no rush to move quickly away from the painful experience of Dad’s illness and death. I allowed myself to grieve, rest and heal.

A time to re-connect.

Co-working

With time, I’ve been feeling better – and have also felt the need to re-connect with people in my network. Fortunately for me – an new co-working and wellness group recently cropped up – put on by some fabulous women-entrepreneur-friends I just happen to know. And as luck would have it – the location is in my neighbourhood! It’s so refreshing to meet up weekly with a bunch of like-minded ladies all making it work in entrepreneurship and who also understand the importance of self-care. If we don’t take care of ourselves – how can we take care of our business and be the best we can be for our clients?

Mentorship & Coaching

I have also invested in a coach and mentor duo for 6 months – who I just love. After the heavy experience in my personal life and now just slowly coming out of it, I wanted to have some extra guidance and accountability for my business going forward. I actually feel so relieved knowing that they’ve got my back. Definitely money well spent. Do you need some mentoring? See my resource section below.

My ‘Goal Group’ & Feeling Inspired

A couple of weekends ago I attended the Socialight Conference with some of the girls from my Goal Group. My goal group is another crew I am part of — 6 women entrepreneurs who I meet up with once every 6 weeks to keep accountable with. Attending the conference was truly an inspirational weekend — I left with some real great takeaways. And again, it was just nice feeling I was among my tribe!

A time to look ahead.

Some resources for you…

Recently I met another life coach at my co-working group – Danika Czbak of Epic Coaching and she is hosting this amazing event at CSI on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 6pm.

I love what Danika is doing – and I wish I could attend. I’ve only just learned about what she does, but her ‘Spark Your Life’ sisterhood sounds right up my alley!
